Mary Coleman is the Chief Creative Officer of Locksmith Animation. She joined Locksmith in 2022 after two decades at Pixar, where Co-founder Ed Catmull had brought her in to establish the studio’s development process. Mary became Head of Development, working closely with Pixar directors from original concept through script. She gave creative feedback on all films in production as part of Pixar's brain trust. She is known for finding rising-star talent and launching screenwriting careers. During her tenure, Pixar created a legacy of modern classics including Monsters, IncFinding NemoThe Incredibles (1 and 2,) Cars, RatatouilleWALL-E, Up, Toy Story (2-4), Brave, Inside Out, Finding Dory, Coco, Onward, Soul, Luca, and Turning Red.
Before Pixar, Mary was the Associate Artistic director of San Francisco’s renowned Magic Theatre, where she developed new plays and directed world premieres for a decade.
Mary was drawn to Locksmith by the depth of experience of the leadership team and their shared desire to make wildly entertaining movies that have something worth saying.
