Manchester Animation Festival 2018
A masterclass from UK feature animation studio Locksmith Animation is one of the highlights of the fourth annual Manchester Animation Festival (MAF), which runs from November 13-15.
MAF will take place at Manchester’s HOME cinema. The programme includes an animated short competition, screenings of new features, retrospective screenings, workshops and networking events. Panel and discussion events will include ‘Animated Women UK’, a platform for women in the animation business to share their stories.

The Locksmith team will be at Manchester Animation Festival 2018
MAF meets the team at Locksmith Animation, the U.K.’s only high-end CG feature animation studio dedicated to the global family audience, ahead of the company’s first feature film release, Ron’s Gone Wrong, slated for 2020.
The Manchester Animation Festival, a three-day festival celebrating animation in all its forms, returns to Manchester’s HOME November 13-15. The event, now in its fourth year, is the largest animation festival in the U.K., and its packed program includes animated short competitions, feature films, retrospective screenings, workshops, networking events, panel discussions, masterclasses and screen talks from some of the brightest and best talent in the industry.

The Student Academy Awards were established in 1972 to provide a platform for emerging global talent by creating opportunities within the industry to showcase their work. Irina and Max are highly talented proof of how incredibly important it is to support the young creatives that will be producing the animated films of tomorrow.
To put it into perspective, the Academy has voted 19 students as winners of the 45th Student Academy Awards® competition. This year, the Student Academy Awards competition received a total of 1,582 entries from 278 domestic and 122 international colleges and universities, which were voted upon by a record number of Academy members.
The 2018 winners join the ranks of such past Student Academy Award winners as Patricia Cardoso, Pete Docter, Cary Fukunaga, John Lasseter, Spike Lee, Trey Parker, Patricia Riggen and Robert Zemeckis.
